What is the time frame for beginning and completing Construction?
We believe that over the next few weeks and months God is going to pour out his blessings on our church. Our goal is to begin construction in March 2007. Contractors have given us a construction period of about six months. That means that by this time next year we could be gearing up for our first Thanksgiving and Christmas in our new home.
Will the new facilities be extravagant?
No. We are designing the buildings to reflect the high standards of Rocky River Community Church. In others words, the building(s) will be nice and attractive. But our main focus is on practical functionality. The campus will be a tool not a trophy.
Can we do some of the construction ourselves?
Yes. We hope to keep construction costs down by doing as much of the work as allowable. In fact, we plan to give the contractors in our church the first opportunities in bidding the work.
Can I use my tithe to give to Imagine: A Place That Matters?
We ask that you not. According to the Bible, the tithe, 10% of your income, is to be given to the church for the general budget and ministries of the church. Gifts to the Imagine: A Place That Matters campaign will be an offering and should be above the tithe.
Who will guide the project?
We are putting together a small construction team that will continue to guide us through selecting a contractor and the project’s completion.
Can we afford a loan?
On the outside looking in, we have never been able to afford anything significant that we have done as a church. We didn’t have the money or people to start the church. But God provided the people and money to launch our church in the beginning. When we needed our first office we didn’t have the money to rent it. But God (and the great folks at SouthTrust Bank) provided a great office for nearly five years – rent-free. There have been many other times along the way when we didn’t know where money and help would come from. But when we had faith – when we believed God was leading us to do something – and we followed in obedience – HE PROVIDED! The answer is yes. If we make equal sacrifices we can do this. We have the right people in place. The timing is right and we believe God is going to again do something that might not add up on paper.
